The author views emotional health as a missing link in discipleship.
What do you think that means?

A book discussion based on the book Emotionally Healthy Church by Peter Scazzero

I would love to say this guy has the corner on the market of being a "good Christian," at the same time i wonder if he makes a valid point. That maybe the reason we see so few thriving christians in the US is because we lack the emotional health. I doubt it is that easy and simple, but maybe he is making a point. I wonder why is it that so few people become emotionally mature, why is it so few christians? Is it lack of hard work? No leaders? Too hard?
That to say i think maybe the writer is on to something, just hope in the weeks to come i can learn to get some health, instead of just picking on all those who aint. Kind of plank in eye style... anyone ever hear of something like that?
I think it means that emotional health is missing and needs to be added to all the other stuff
If he is saying that emotinal health needs to replace the other stuff, is better, or something like that, then I think I wouldn't really want to talk about the book
I do think it is a missing piece that has been largely ignored in the majority of Christian community
The more I read the book, the more I realize that my friends, family and my own experiences are more prolific than I thought. I knew there were a lot of sick people in the church (self included), but that's what Jesus said - he came to heal the sick.
I agree with the author. I believe those people I admire for their spiritual walk are usually the most emotionally mature as well.
